| eBay Watch: Choosing Categories for Conversions
This week eBay began extending its maintenance period by two hours to four hours a week. It's likely many sellers won't even notice the change, though sometimes during the maintenance period there are disruptions, such as slow-performing or unavailable eBay features. In other updates this week, it appears that the Buyer Experience Team has been fooling around with the Favorite Searches option, which allows you to save your searches instead of repeatedly typing them and to receive e-mails when new items that match your terms have been listed. A "save this search" link now appears to the right of your search criteria, making the Favorite Search easier to use. You can also set e-mail notifications and save your preferences for future searches. Meanwhile, eBay and Mozilla formally announced plans to improve the online auction experience for people in France, Germany and the United Kingdom.
Heat won't win with this Wade
CHICAGO -- There is no solace in this, no consolation, no moral victory in the almost. Not this time of year. Not when you are king. So let's not pretend that Miami's 96-91 loss here to open the playoffs Saturday was something encouraging just because it was close at the end. Let's not do mathematical and verbal gymnastics to turn the loss into a minor victory with ``If Miami can be within a bounce with Dwyane Wade and Shaquille O'Neal in foul trouble, then everything should be OK.'' It isn't OK. Miami will not survive this series if this is the limited Wade it gets, period. This isn't knee-jerk, reactionary or lacking perspective, either. That happens too often whenever a team loses any game in the playoffs, and it is silly. That's why I wrote after Miami got scorched at home against New Jersey in a Game 1 of the second round last season that everything would be fine, that jump-shooting teams like the Nets can't beat O'Neal and a good sidekick this time of year.
The India Typist: It’s sad we don’t consider being a SAHD
Imagine a job where you can work from home, make your own hours and never report to a superior. There are no interviews or resumes required to apply. Stephen Colbert calls the profession a threat to America. Sociologists call it an example of gender-nonconformity. I call it being a stay-at-home-dad, and it is my life-long dream. .

In the Loop: Georgetown coach remembers 'Pappy' crying after loss ...
Georgetown basketball coach John Thompson III said in an Associated Press story this week that missing or making the Final Four is emotional - for fathers and sons. Thompson's father of the same name led the Hoyas to the 1980 NCAA regional finals before losing to Ronnie Lester-led Iowa. "I remember that was one of the times in my life where back in the room I saw my Pappy cry," Thompson said. "Years later, after they won (the championship), I remember him saying you don't know if you're going to get to that point again. So much has to go right." Iowa's Phoenix rising? From USA Today to central Iowa TV's SoundOff show to an ESPN.com online live blog during the Masters, people are suggesting that Masters champion Zach Johnson looks like actor Joaquin Phoenix.
What I Like About You - The Complete First Season
What I Like About You is a sitcom that aired from 2002 to 2006. The series had four seasons and a total of eighty-six episodes. It is about two sisters who live together and the various endeavors and adventures they embark upon with their closest friends and significant others. The show has a light-hearted, wholesome feeling, which works nicely as a family-oriented comedy. The two primary characters are Holly Tyler (Amanda Bynes), a quirky sixteen year old girl, and Valerie "Val" Tyler (Jennie Garth), Holly's neurotic older sister who works in public relations. The two sisters are brought together in the series pilot episode when their father is promoted. His new job is in Japan. What that means for Holly, is relocation. Not wanting to move, she goes to New York City and lives with her sister.
Alternative reality game takes on the end of oil
In a matter of days, gas prices will skyrocket, a dwindling food supply will rot, and the oil crisis literally will stop Americans in their tracks. How can you and your loved ones survive a crippling breakdown? Log in to "World Without Oil," a free alternate reality game that taps our collective ingenuity to stop a plausible crisis before it happens -- or at least prepare a post-Katrina nation to deal better with a disaster. Sprung from the imagination of San Jose gamemaker Ken Eklund, the 30-day Internet game begins April 30 at www.worldwithoutoil.org. "Oil's" creators herald the venture as a first -- an alternate reality game that wrestles with a significant social problem. Another topical game, the obesity-themed "Fatworld," is in production. "This is the alternate reality game that will change reality," Eklund said.
