| UK 2017: under surveillance
Fridges have RFID scanners which tell the neighbourhood grocery store that pensioners are running short on provisions. The goods are then delivered direct to the doorstep. Huge databases in hospitals are able to compare tests on patients throughout the country. This allows doctors to red-flag risk factors earlier than ever before, meaning that a patient's statistical risk of suffering, for example, a heart attack, are predicted with much greater accuracy. The NHS will be locked in a battle with insurance companies who want access to health information for commercial purposes. The temptation for the NHS is the large amounts of money on offer. The authors point out that Iceland sold its national DNA database to private companies for research and profit in 2004. The data shadow Those rich enough can sign up to "personal information management services" (Pims) which monitor all the information that exists about an individual - a person's so-called "data shadow".
Cameron speech in full
Boy has this guy got a plan. It's to appeal to that 4% of people in marginal seats. With a dog whistle on immigration there and a word about crime here, wrap yourself up in the flag and talk about Britishness enough times and maybe, just maybe, you can convince enough people that you are on their side. Well I say, God we've got to be better than that. You know, what about the 40% of our fellow citizens who have given up on voting? They are just fed up with the whole rat-race of politics, the whole merry-go-round. We have got to inspire them that we can bring real change and deal with the things that people care about. People want the politics of belief and that means politics they can really believe in. So today I want to tell you what I believe. I want to tell you what's wrong with our country and I want to explain what I am going to do to put it right.
Restaurants: Passport to flavor
Wong is getting ready to roll out additional menu items. And maybe dessert. In her newly adopted neighborhood, Wong has developed an underground reputation for making, by request only, a mean pecan pie and an equally noteworthy carrot cake. Perhaps, if enough customers pester her, she'll make them permanent fixtures. "Why not?" Wong said with a laugh. "I love to bake, so you never know." Pagoda "Smell that garlic," sighed my friend, a big smile stretching across his face. He was flashing chopsticks across a hefty pile of sizzlingly hot jumbo shrimp, lightly battered and flexing a strong garlicky punch. But he could have been talking about the dish in front of me, another plate of plus-size shrimp, each bite emboldened by dry chili peppers and crunchy bits of fried garlic. How we landed on those two winning dishes, I'm not sure, as the 12-page menu at Pagoda has so many items -- 249 and counting -- that diners could take the better part of a year to eat their way across its broad culinary swipes through Korea, Thailand, China, Indonesia, Malaysia and Japan.
European sizes don't fit all
Monseiur, I am sorry but we do not have..." the sneer grew, "... elephant sizes." While I am not as thin as the proverbial rail, in places like Disney World I am considered "average." But not in France. Still, this was Spain. Surely, Franco instilled some politeness in the country's salespeople. Or is laughing at American body types a reflex common to all Romance-language countries? I was encouraged by the racks of nice slacks. Grabbing a pair, I approached a saleslady. "Hola," I began, using up half my Spanish vocabulary. "Do you speak English?" She nodded. "Could you please tell me if this is my size?" Quicker than you can say "paella," the woman pointed at a distant corner. "To the wall," she said firmly.
Sunday's NFC Wild Card matchup between the Giants and the Bucs looks ...
The first time was on January 5, 2003 when Garcia was then the QB of the 49ers. With about three minutes left in the thrid quarter, the Giants had a commanding 24 point lead, 38-14. In the remaining 18 minutes, Garcia led an improbable comeback. The Niners scored 25 unanswered points to beat the Giants 39-38. Last year Garcia led the Eagles down the field setting up a 38 yard field goal as time expired, leading Philadelphia to a 23-20 win over the Giants. Ironically, these are Garcia's only two playoff wins. Will Sunday be his third? My guess is "no", the Giants will finally overcome their old nemesis and finally beat Garcia. But, this is no stone cold lock. The Giants are injury depleted. Jeremy Shockey is out indefinitely with a broken leg and Plaxico Burress has been hobbled with an ankle injury all year.

Tetris Splash Review
Tetris has seen so many variations of itself that it can almost be called a template at this point. Its humble beginnings on the Gameboy has spawned a legion of sequels from 3D variations to new games featuring popular mascots. It's no surprise, though, because its simplistic gameplay is both addicting and fun and appeals to the masses like no other game. Tetris Splash literally changes nothing from the original, but adds a soothing aquarium aesthetic and a remixed version of the orginal theme that begs the gamer to simply relax. If you're looking for new game modes then you'll be disappointed to learn there are only two modes: Marathon and 40 Line. Marathon Mode is the classic Tetris everyone knows and loves. Players keep fitting pieces together trying to keep the blocks from reaching the top of the board.
