EDDIE MURPHY EARNS MULTIPLE RAZZIE NODS: "Norbit" singled out by annual celebration of year's worst films and performances. *Eddie Murphy has joined Halle Berry in the rare class of actors who have received nominations for both an Academy Award, honoring the best in film, and a Razzie Award, which "rewards" the year's worst.
Berry was a winner at both ceremonies – earning a best actress Oscar for "Monster's Ball" in 2002 and a worst actress Razzie three years later for "Catwoman."
While Murphy was unable to bag the supporting actor Oscar for "Dreamgirls" last year, chances are good that he'll take home at least one of eight Razzie nominations for his 2007 fiasco "Norbit."
Murphy alone received five Razzie nods, more than anyone has ever gotten in a single year. Besides worst picture, "Norbit" had nominations for Murphy as worst actor in the title role, supporting actress as Norbit's morbidly-obese wife, supporting actor as an Asian man and worst screen couple for Norbit opposite either of Murphy's other characters.

The first time was on January 5, 2003 when Garcia was then the QB of the 49ers. With about three minutes left in the thrid quarter, the Giants had a commanding 24 point lead, 38-14. In the remaining 18 minutes, Garcia led an improbable comeback. The Niners scored 25 unanswered points to beat the Giants 39-38. Last year Garcia led the Eagles down the field setting up a 38 yard field goal as time expired, leading Philadelphia to a 23-20 win over the Giants. Ironically, these are Garcia's only two playoff wins. Will Sunday be his third? My guess is "no", the Giants will finally overcome their old nemesis and finally beat Garcia. But, this is no stone cold lock. The Giants are injury depleted. Jeremy Shockey is out indefinitely with a broken leg and Plaxico Burress has been hobbled with an ankle injury all year.
European Commission Proposes Single European Telecoms Market/Regulator
The European Commission officially adopted proposals for a reform of the EU telecoms rules with the aim of creating a single European telecom market with a consistent set of regulations covering consumers in all 27 EU Member States. The plan calls for a new European Telecom Market Authority to govern national telecoms regulators in ensuring that market rules and consumer regulation are applied consistently, independently and without protectionism. To become law, the Commission proposals will now need to be approved by the European Parliament and the EU Council of Ministers. The European Commission believes the approval could be attained by the end of 2009.
Specific components of the reform proposal include: New consumer rights such as the right to switch telecoms operators within 1 day; the right to transparent and comparable price information; the possibility to call freephone numbers from abroad; and a more effective single European emergency number 112.

Open mikes, open mouths and unscripted hours of filling mostly mundane airtime can be a rough combination during a live golf broadcast, as the Golf Channel has learned in its 53 weeks as the PGA Tour's primary broadcast network. During second-round coverage of the tour's season-opening Mercedes-Benz Championship last week, analyst Kelly Tilghman offered a racially tinged remark in jest, stating that younger players on tour should "lynch Tiger Woods in a back alley." Tilghman apologized over the weekend and has also communicated her unfortunate choice of words, first reported by Newsday, to Woods' representatives, the network said. Woods is part African-American. Said the company in a statement attributed to nobody in particular: "We regret if any viewers were offended by Kelly's choice of words on Friday's telecast.

Ferguson fired, Fletcher named interim GM
Regrettably, we did not win enough games to reach our goal, winning the Stanley Cup. "Our team performance has fallen short of what is to be expected. Today, we need to forge the start of a new beginning for (the) Toronto Maple Leafs. And we begin with the man seated next to me, a man with Hall of Fame credentials, who is highly regarded by Leafs fans and by hockey people around the globe. We have reached out to Cliff Fletcher and his 50-plus years of hockey management experience to serve as general manager of the Leafs on an interim basis." Fletcher had been linked to much of the speculation regarding the team. He had been one of several hockey management types contacted last week to gauge their interest in the job, he was then offered the position for the remainder of the season serving as interim GM until a new general manager can be found. He will then serve as a consultant for the remainder of his 19 month contract.

Pats take out Packers in SB XLII. Reasons are listed below in my previous blog. Now on to Roger Clemens. This guy is digging himself even deeper. First off, did you get a chance to listen to the recorded conversation between he and his ex-trainer, Brian McNamee? Apparently in Texas and New York you can record a conversation is one person consents, and Clemens consented. What a load a manure! Clemens tried to coax the guy into saying something like he lied, but he never did. Therefore, why even play the recording at the press conference?! I think he made himself look worse b/c he recorded the call, didn't get anything out of it, and still played it. Clemens asked him, why did you say I used steroids? You can take that 1 of 2 ways. "Why did you rat me out" or "why did you make up lies?" McNamee offered to go to the press conference, and Clemens never took him up on his offer.
