Anti-Bush Campaign Planned

A liberal advocacy group plans to spend $8.5 million in a drive to make sure President Bush's public approval doesn't improve as his days in the White House come to an end.

Americans United for Change plans to undertake a yearlong campaign, spending the bulk of the money on advertising, to keep public attention on what the group says are the failures of the Bush administration, including the war in Iraq, the response to Hurricane Katrina, and the current mortgage crisis.

In selling the plan to fundraisers, the group has argued that support for President Reagan was at a low of 42 percent in 1987 but climbed to 63 percent before he left office. "All of a sudden he became a rallying cry for conservatives and their ideology," said Brad Woodhouse, president of the group.

War-crimes allegations 'un-Canadian,' MacKay says

Canada can't shoot them, we sure as hell aren't bringing them here so some half-wit judge can order them released into Canadian society, we don't have the capacity to run prisons in A'stan, and no other western nation does either. Since Canada has underfunded and undersupported our military, it isn't big enough to be able to deal with dangerous terrorist killers who just happen to be under 18.

In muslim law, a male is an adult at 15. Unlike Canada, poeple in most of the rest of the world are considered adults long before their mid-30s.

So leftards, you want to house these people in your home (the equivelent argument to the chickenhawk BS from the left)? If not, the alternative is to given them to the A'stan gov't. Posted 22/11/07 at 10:08 AM EST | Link to Comment .

Free game for Xbox Live downtime? Xbox Live crashes

Today was supposed to be the day that Microsoft released the free download of the Xbox Live Arcade original Undertow to make up for those days of system downtime and instability Xbox Live users suffered through over the holidays. Which makes today the perfect time for the system to come crashing to its knees again.

When many gamers tried to retrieve Undertow this morning, they got a message telling them the system "can't retrieve information from Xbox LIVE. Please try again later." The message also helpfully points out that this is a status code: 8015000a.

I've been trying to grab the game myself, and I'm also suffering from this error message. I'm not quite sure what to say about this; if Microsoft had any doubts at all about its ability to serve the free game, they should have released a message saying the release was bumped back a few days.

Corporations Voting Machine

America's votes are counted in total secrecy and invisibility. We need to put aside any partisan differences to realize that...

Tuesday, December 4:

Anthony Signorelli: Part 2: "...anonymous voter-marked ballots" The Free and Fair Elections Amendment to restore the public consensus to election outcomes depends on this critical clause: "anonymous voter-marked ballots." Part 2 in a series describing the amendment and its implications.

Friday, November 30:

Joan Brunwasser: "Uncounted: The New Math of American Elections" and the Power of One (10 comments) Judging from the veteran's response and audience reaction,David Earnhardt can be pleased that his message was heard at the Nashville premiere. At the pro-democracy rally in Atlanta in the summer of 2005, marchers chanted, "Keep the vote alive!" One hand-printed sign poignantly and pointedly read, "I voted.

Coming Soon: SR to Release E-mail Exchanges ... (Not so fast...)

Update: After reviewing the messages and our options (none good), we've decided not to post the messages. Here's the situation:

Of the 50 messages, a few have explicit photos embedded in the message. We can't publish those photos (one shows a toddler's penis). We also have a strong ethical policy against blurring or otherwise manipulating photos.

Some of the messages are completely innocuous. The rest of the messages only refer to attachments. Those attachments are explicit, so we can't publish them.

We've also gone through each message to blur e-mail addresses for privacy reasons.

So, if we don't publish any of the explicit images, and we refuse to blur, crop or otherwise alter them, all we're left with is a bunch of forwarded messages that say things like "take a look at this!"

We decided that did not advance the story in any significant way.
